Greg Cooke / Datsik / ENiGMA Dubz

It's almost 7 in the morning and I haven't slept all night due to an essay. With Mukkers & Millward so it's alright. Undisputed champion of computer room chair hurdles...dangerous sport. Another remix from greg cooke. Sometimes the best thing about the release of a new chillstep remix from him is that the original music he sources is always spot on.

100% of people who think that dubstep "is just bloody noise" won't like this but I'm putting it up because it's as peng as a ping pong. Alphabet Pony have just released a new track which is worth checking out if you like their stuff and fuck it I'm going to embed the new liquid track from ENiGMA Dubz afterwards too. I'm undecided about the vocals but nice bass so...you win some you lose some.

Minor Rain / Statix

Got some amazing tracks to post over the next three days but have my dissertation to do so will post a couple at a time. First up Minor Rain. He's an absolute electronic music guru and really stands apart from other producers in the way he manipulates sounds in some of his more dark/ambient work. The successful layering and diversity he is capable of is incredible. Here's a dnb track he let out recently...

Beautiful chillstep remix from statix...not his usual thing but he's done a great job. Liked this from the first listen.

Three20

New Album out from Three20 yesterday called I can't Stand it via Nu Venture. They caught my attention with that 'Breakaway' track a few months ago. They produce such great drum and bass. This style of liquid dragged me back into listening to a lot of EDM so I've always got time for it. Going to pick up my copy of this album now...Here's my two favorite tracks off it...

Three20- I CAN STAND IT

High Contrast / TwoThirds / Detzky

First up a track from the soon to be released new album by High Contrast entitled The Agony & The Ecstasy. The music on it is meant to be a deeper representation of the personal life and emotions of Lincoln Barret. Some of the tracks have attracted some flak over on hospitality because he's not staying true to his old style. People need to get their heads out their arses. This (preview) track has been well received though and is sick...junglist rhythms with epic vocals from Selah Corbin...one of the best of 2012 so far.

Another drum and bass track from TwoThirds. He said he was combining a few styles he'd learned over the years to produce something a bit different. I love it, sax works so well

Finally a garagey chillstep tune from Detzky. I don't know what it is about classic east Asian music and some ambient dubstep that gets me so much but it does. Too good at .45 when those deep wobbles enter.

Akira Kiteshi / Liverwire / Duo Science

Just stumbled across an old favorite while playing through loads of Phaeleh...who's just the hat of postman pat when it comes to deep and involving bass music. Here's a remix by Edinburgh based Akira Kiteshi who've injected a bit of va va voom into it.

Next up an entry to the Blu Mar Ten remix competition by Livewire...he should win with this. Soundclouds down right now so I'll just embedd it later...

I really rate this track by Duo Science. Love the way it slowly progresses and keeps that old school dnb vibe about it. Great background music

Atlantic Connection / Memro & Keeno / Greg Cooke

Remix of Porcelain by Atlantic Connection. He says he dropped this in a set in Hawaii and ever since its been huge. Reached its 1000 dl limit on soundcloud in a couple of days. Feel good dnb...

Been waiting on some new Memro for ages now. He's still one of the best drum and bass artists out there and I can't get over the quality of track he was producing when aged 14/15. Here's a remix he's done of a track from one of his pals Keeno with vocals ala Fifi Smart.

Valentines day was a good day for music...about 10 tracks went straight into my favorites. I love the tracks Greg Cooke remixes, he's got a spot on taste in music. 9 times out of 10 when you click on a remix of a classic by some dub artist, they just destroy it with messy wobbles and a fucked up tempo but Greg Cooke keeps that delicacy. Got plenty of stuff to put up over the next few days so stay tuned.

Blackmill / Redemptive

New Blackmill is always good news. Hooked ever since I heard Evil Beauty and Let It Be with Veela. Love this Valentines Day release. Snare and kick are spot on. Afterwards there's a track from redemptive. I'm pretty sure I posted some of his stuff on the old site but he produces a very similar style to Blackmill but has a tiny number of followers in comparison. He said on FB that he was working on producing an album or EP so really looking forward to that. The track Kiryoku has that oriental feel that comes through in some of Blackmills work and combines so well with those ambient dub sounds...

Mindtalk / Fresh Direct / Synthetic Epiphany / JacM

Mindtalk has been blowing up recently. There seems to be a growing empty chasm when it comes to fresh and original drum and bass which I suppose is what you'd expect when a genre has been explored so much. Vincere and 'Til the End are too absolutely huge tracks though and I've been juggling which one to embed...Go and download his most recent EP from here if you like: http://www.mediafire.com/?iigye5591pzy3p3

Three Chillstep tracks now. On the subject of dubstep I am desperate to hear Redemptives new album in the wake of Miracle from Blackmill which was a fucking miracle. I might put something of his up later next week. Here's a Fresh Direct remix of Zero 7, think it's a nice change from the usual lana del ray bootlegs, not that I don't love em...

Here's a original composition from Synthetic Epiphany. It's just so perfectly balanced and it's simplicity is made possible with those distant and quite haunting vocals. There's not much music I could go to sleep listening to but I could with this...

Finally a remix of William Fitzsimmons from JacM. He's a specialist in remixing this sort of track

Smooth / Dexcell

Here are two more Upbeat (clubby) pieces. First one a remix of C&C by Smooth and the second from a video from Dexcell ft Tamar Nicole that was featured on Tumba. It's got mixed reviews, mainly because Tumba's music is usually chillstep, liquid etc and I swear some people are so stupid these days they think Suicide Sheep and the rest of the big youtube promoters are actually artists...just look at some of the comments. I thought it was a wicked tune and nice to see some time being put into producing a video...

Here's one i just remembered from their soundcloud too, worth a post

Ghosts of Paraguay / Fracx and Aura / Komatic

Wicked remix of Born To Die by Ghosts of Paraguay. He's a sensei of good bass music in Slovakia and Tumba and Sheep lap his stuff up. He never had a single music lesson but taught himself the guitar, piano and how to use a huge array of music software. Here's a remix of Lana Del Ray he brought out recently. Stepped on my headphones and broke off both cups just now :[ ...

Excellent release from Fracx and Aura....I uploaded a track from both these guys on the old site and it's great seeing them collaborate. Shows that liquid dnb is far from dead. Ultimate chill out tune...

Chilling release by Komatic on Shogun Audio. One of the best/most consistent labels out there at the moment. The full version of this will feature (on vinyl) along with a Technicolor collab. which is also sick. Listen to the full build up to appreciate that subtle drop...(Also Fallen Angles ft Jay Wilcox on also on SGN is worth a listen)

Alan Strovich / Omnitica / Cally D

Alan Strovich linked me on soundcloud today and asked if I could share his new Steve Aoki ft Wynter Gordon remix. It's a wicked track and I'll link his soundcloud so you can go and check him out. However it reminded me that I'd completely forgotten to share another one of his tracks which has been sitting in my favorites for a few weeks now...Olivia Broadfield - Say (Strovich Remix). I'll embed that because the people I've played it to loved it and if you like it you can check out the rest of his stuff. He's been consistently creating well produced and interesting tracks recently: Stovich Soundcloud

Hospitality: Brixton on April 6th...Tempted?

Can't believe I'd missed this track from Omnitica."Yo! Ho! And a Bottle of Bass"...He defines it progstep but its definitely Progressive lol-step.
My dashboard has been filled with promo clips recently and there are quite a few big drum and bass tracks coming out soonish. State of Mind and Moving Fusion have managed to release two clips within hours of each other which sound dangerously similar. There's also a new release from Adventure Club if you like their stuff. Last off though I'm going to put up some Cally D. He's a very talented up and coming artist and I've seen he got some exposure on QDR recently with a wicked track called press onwards. Here's a remix he did for the Memoirs competition back in December. Real nice
